On February 24, as part of the All-Church Day of Prayer, Fasting, and Almsgiving, Zhyve Television held a 12-hour prayer marathon to mark the anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. More than 90,000 people joined in prayer on Zhyve Television’s YouTube channel and about 100,000 on Facebook.

A prayer marathon on Zhyve Television united more than 190 thousand prayers

The marathon started at noon Kyiv time with a moleben at the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ in Kyiv. It ended at midnight in Philadelphia in the United States of America. Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Odesa, Kherson, Irpin, Melbourne in Australia, Przemysl in Poland, Rome in Italy, Buenos Aires in Argentina, and Winnipeg in Canada took part in the marathon alternately.

Each of the 12 hours of the marathon was dedicated to a special prayer with a separate intention: for soldiers, chaplains, volunteers, internally displaced persons, the wounded, medics, prisoners of war, children of war, those killed in the battle and their families, the injured, Ukrainians in the occupied territories, and power engineers.

It is important to note that during the entire 12 hours, at least 5,000 people united in prayer. In addition, a team of 14 people worked on the marathon itself.

During the marathon, the Patriarchal Foundation, “Wise Cause,” collected donations for its development and activities. They will help internally displaced persons, socially vulnerable people, and those in difficult circumstances. Thanks to the contributions of the faithful, more than 400 thousand hryvnias were raised.
