This is stated on the website of the Patriarchal Catechetical Commission of the UGCC.

In the first place, Bishop David noted that during the pandemic, the most difficult thing for him was that the faithful could not receive Holy Communion regularly. According to him, this led to the realization that, despite the opportunity to participate in church services online, we really longed to receive the Body and Blood of Jesus.

“I invite you this year to rediscover and deepen your love for the Body and Blood of Jesus, which we may have taken for granted before the pandemic,” the head of the Patriarchal Catechetical Commission urged.

Bishop David Motyuk encouraged everyone to recall their own experience of the first solemn Holy Communion. Then he remembered his own in detail, which occurred at the Church of St. John the Baptist in Lavoy in 1971.

“Do not keep your memories for yourself. Share them with your spouse, your children, grandchildren, and those with whom you work as catechists,” Bishop David emphasized. “Let them know how meaningful this event was for you and the time that Jesus chose to come and become a part of your life, your companion on the journey of faith. For we are people of the Eucharist.”
