From the Head of the UGCC: They want to wipe us off the face of the earth, but the power of the honest and life-giving Cross will be Ukraine’s victory
Today’s glory emerging from the honest and life-giving Cross in Kyiv to the whole of Ukraine is something we still do not fully understand, yet it touches our hearts. The Head of the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church, His Beatitude Sviatoslav, said in his sermon on the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy and Life-giving Cross in the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ in Kyiv.
As the Primate noted, today, the Church of Christ celebrates a unique, profound holiday, a holiday that is one of the most significant holidays of the Christian Liturgical year — the holiday of the Exaltation of the honest and life-giving Cross of the Lord.
According to the preacher, the event of Exaltation of the honest and life-giving Cross is a moment when opposites and poles change places.
This event, in the opinion of the spiritual leader, the worldwide Exaltation, the global change in the poles of the spiritual, social, and cosmic life of man in the world created by God, is primarily felt today during the war in Kyiv.
The Head of the Church referred to two pillars of our Church, St. Andrew the Apostle and righteous metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky. He mentioned that the first one predicted that Christianity would become the glory of the Kyiv mountains, and the second — brutal persecution of our Church and splendor in the aftermath of it.
The prophecy of Andrew the Apostle and Andrey Sheptytsky draws a deep line for our present, for us Ukrainians, who celebrate this holiday in Kyiv during the war. Because today Ukraine understands that the Lord’s Cross is its sign of victory over the enemy.
The preacher also noted that it is probably the last colonial war in Europe in human history.
