Cross Procession to Mount Piania Held for the Second Time in Greece

This was reported on the Facebook page of the church community.

According to the organizers, this event has already become a cherished tradition for the Ukrainian community, with the first such prayer taking place last year. This year, even more faithful participated, joining the clergy in meditating on the stations of Christ’s Passion and offering prayers for peace and Ukraine’s victory.

Leading the procession were Fr. Ihor Posolenyk and Fr. Roman Skrypniuk, priests serving Ukrainians in Greece, along with Fr. Petro Fuchio, Protosyncellus of the Greek Exarchate. Participants took turns carrying a cross, symbolically sharing in Christ’s suffering.

Various Ukrainian communities in Athens actively took part in the prayer this year. The cross was carried by children from the catechetical school, members of the Mothers in Prayer community, singers from the church choir and the Crane Land choir, as well as representatives of various volunteer groups and associations, including Grekobanderivtsi, Athenian Weaving, and Forest Mavkas. The procession was also attended by military chaplains’ assistants, clergy, members of the church brotherhood, and altar servers.

The participants offered their prayers for Ukraine’s defenders, wounded soldiers, and all those suffering due to the war. At the symbolic Holy Tomb, where the procession concluded, the clergy led special prayers for Ukraine.
