Pastoral Council

Description

The Pastoral Council of the Patriarchal Curia of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church is a permanent advisory body to the Father and the Head of the UGCC on pastoral issues. The Pastoral Council of the Patriarchal Curia of the UGCC was founded on the basis of the Decree (BA 19/179) of His Beatitude Sviatoslav (Shevchuk) of June 13, 2019.

Activity

Rights and Tasks of the Council:

  • coordination and unification of the activities of the structures of the Patriarchal Curia, which are responsible for the pastoral ministry of the Church;
  • continuous evaluation of the activities of the structures of the Patriarchal Curia, which are responsible for pastoral ministry, in accordance with their tasks outlined in the legislation;
  • analysis of the implementation of pastoral initiatives by the structures of the Patriarchal Curia in the eparchies and analysis of the response to these initiatives from the eparchies;
  • preparation and submission of proposals to the Father and the Head of the Church for approval at the Synod of Bishops of the UGCC of the necessary legislative acts regarding the pastoral activity of the Church;
  • implementation within its competence of the legislative acts of the Synod of Bishops of the UGCC as well as decrees and instructions of the Father and the Head of the Church;
  • submitting to the Father and the Head of the Church substantiated recommendations for the establishment, dismissal or reorganization of structures in the Patriarchal Curia that are responsible for the pastoral ministry of the Church;
  • coordination of constant communication between the structures of the Patriarchal Curia, which are responsible for the pastoral ministry of the Church, and the eparchies of the UGCC;
  • preparation of pastoral planning at the church level and assistance to eparchies in creating their own pastoral plans, taking into account the legislative acts of the Synod of Bishops of the UGCC;
  • providing recommendations on project proposals of the structures of the Patriarchal Curia, which are responsible for pastoral ministry, for receiving financial assistance;
  • thematic departments can be set up for better cooperation in the Council.
